Future Events

Movie depicts the Book of Genesis in the Bible. It plays out the first few days of creation starting with water to land to trees to the creation of Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve are ordered by God to not eat from the Tree of Knowledge, otherwise they will die. Eve is manipulated by the serpent into eating from the Tree of Knowlege. Eve convinces Adam to have some of the fruit as well. When the couple eats from the tree of knowledge, they become aware of their nudity and become embarrassed to be seen naked in the eyes of God. God becomes angry and he curses Adam that he will survive on the land through painful toil and that Eve will only produce children through pain. Adam and Eve have a first child. His name is Cane, which means "possession". Cane became a farmer and was skilled in the land. Adam and Eve then had a second child. His name is Abel, which means "breath of life." Abel become a herder of livestock. When the two grow up, both make sacrifices of their fruits to God. God accepts the sacrifices of Abel but does not accept the sacrifices from Cain. Because of this, Cain kills Abel. God curses Cain with a mark on his forehead that makes him a fugitive and wandererer. Cain has two children Lamech and Enoch. Adam and Eve have another child named Noah. When Noah grows up, God tells him to prepare an arc with two of every type of animal. God rains down on the earth for 40 days and 40 nights and wipes out everything that is not in the Ark. When the rain stops, Noah sends birds out to scout the land. It is only when he sends a dove and the dove brings back an olive branch that they know that land is becoming available again. Noah and his family release the animals back in the wild. Noah's three children, Ham, Seth, Japeth, grow their families. After a few generations, Nimrod is born in the family. Nimrod makes a tower and as he reaches the heavens, and this ambition was seen as rebellious to God. God therefore cursed the people to speak in different languages and thus were no longer able to work together to make the tower. After a few generations again, Abram is born. Abram is blessed to lead a group of followers out of the power of the Egyptions. He has a wife Sarai who is originally barren. Sarai tells Abram to go into her maidservant Hagar. Hagar bears him Ishmael. God refuses to let Ishmael have the rights to the thrown. After some time, three prophets visit Abram's camp and tell him that the next time one of them visits, that Abram will have another son. Sarai laughs when they say this and the prophets call her doubt and ridicule. Sarai does in fact have a son and they name him Isaac. God changes Abram's name to Abraham and Sarai's name to Sarah. Before this happens, the prophets tell of that they will destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Abram pleads with one of the prophets to spare the city if there is even one 10 riteous people. When Abram's followers go to save Lot and his followers from Sodom and Gomorrah, the people ask to meet the new visitors as they are interested in raping them. Abraham resists. The prophet is enraged and he asks anyone related to Abram to evacuate and not turn back otherwise they will be turned to salt. On returning, Lot's wife looks back and she turns to salt. The city of Sodom and Gomorra are destroyed. After some time Isaac grows up. God asks Abraham to sacrifice his son on the alter. With great hesitation, Abraham takes Isaac on a three day camp out where he gets ready to sacrifice the boy. But right before he makes a fatal strike to the boy, God stops him and applauds him for his faithful trust. A ram appears in the tree to be used for the sacrifice. Abraham's descendants continue to flourish and multiply in the land.

Among all the worker ants in an ant hill, one ant is particularly special. He gets chosen by the Princess ant for a dance when she decides to visit the lowly caste for fun. The original encounter was brief but the main character ant finds a way to remain relevant by becoming a war hero. He returns from the war and is awarded a medal of honor and is reacquainted with the Princess who recognizes him. He and the princess fall down a chute and they reach the trash area outside of the ant hill. Instead of heading back right away, the main ant (Z) goes towards Insectopia. The princess follows. They ultimately find Insectopia are are happy there. However the Colonel finds them and brings the princess back to the ant hill. Meanwhile at the ant hill, Mandible the General devices a plan for population control in which water floods the ant hill. Z falls in the ant hill with Mandible and falls into the water. Bala the Princess resuscitates him and they live happily ever after.

Evan is the manager of a Costco. One day, one of his employees is found dead in the store. Evan creates a team called The Watch which tries to find who the killer is. The ultimately find out that it is part of an alien takeover. They learn that the aliens will be using the Costco to send the transmission to bring the entire alien army. The group stops a house party of one the member's daughter's friend where the daughter is getting physical with a boy - something that the father doesn't approve of. The group kills a few aliens with guns and dismantles the alien transmission antennae. The Costco is blown to smithereans by the alien transmission device also laser. Evan tells his wife that he is barren and she doesn't care. The world is saved.

Literature professor and writer two professions of main character. He is recruited into the Nazi party by the interest of the book he wrote on euthanasia, a topic inspired by the real life possible option for elderly mother at home. Character loses interest in current wife and moves on with new girl who also happens to be his student. As the love interest grows between character and student, the landscape becomes increasingly hostile towards the Jews. Best friend must escape the vicinity and main character has possible means to grant exit. Character converted to zealot though maintains feelings for best friend. He fails to deliver exit papers to Jewish best friend. Character visits concentration camp and observes conditions he helped to fuel.

Man creates a robot that is so powerful that it finds humanity as the threat to its existence. Widespread destruction of civilization ensues. The humans create a safe haven called Aurora. The owner of the robot, Kronos, creates a humanoid robot to follow a girl on her journey to Aurora. The humanoid does not know his background but he gains friendship of the girl. He demonstrates capacity for love and human emotion that was not expected by the creators. The girl eventually finds out that the boy is a robot but comes to peace with it. They eventually find Aurora and the two press the button for the spaceship launch together. The girl is safe along with the humanoid bot that will join humanity on Aurora. The robots know the location of the earth-like Aurora but the girl is confident that the humans will be fine because there is a robot amongst them who may be more human that everyone. Love beats the matrix. Even though the creator's brother tries to seize memory of the coordinates from the boy's brain, the boy resists by remembering that he can control the events in his simulation. Interesting.

A trio of friends get together to avoid the army draft. They come up with ways to disqualify themselves starting by pretending to be homosexual and another pretending to be super right wing. As the trio avoids the responsibility, they do online dating and go about their ways. One of them is obsessed with the JFK assassination and he does research into the conspiracy believing that it was all a setup. The second one is a regular guy who can't simply connect with a female without the emotional connection until finally he is seduced by one, a hippie, who lulls him into a trancelike experience. Finally the third one is a film producer and has a script in which he gets females to pretend they are being watched from a window by an outsider - a private, beautiful experience as he calls it. This gets the females in the mood to slowly take off their clothes and maybe be willing to do sexual favors. The guy ultimately goes to Vietnam and he is televised by a journalist and he uses the same script on a female Vietnamese. The JFK guy dies as predicted by his conspiracy. The movie ends with the speech of the President saying we live a good life.

A lone space engineer has a three year shift on board a energy mine on the moon. He has only two weeks left in his shift when the movie starts. Though its more complicated than that. His entire memory is made up and implanted into him and so he believes that he has a family back at home when in reality no such family exists. When going out on a mission, he finds a body and that body happens to be an older version of himself - or rather a clone. They guy and the clone then find a hidden compartment where they find hundreds of clones that can be activated to continue the work. The man and his clone then realize that the corporation they are working for is just enslaving them in the work on the moon. The clone and his counterpart prepare for the arrival of the corporate representatives. One of them is positioned back at the crash site, another one departs for earth, and another one is woken up with a rebooted computer on deck to initiate his service on board the ship. Interesting movie on how loneliness can take extreme with technology and space travel.

In a dystopian world far into the future, humans are driven to extinction and robots control the entire world. One robot in particular breeds a human in isolation and trains it to become excellent in its own design. The robot has a supply of many fetuses that can be grown into full humans. One day, a stray human from outside the facility comes to the facility and the girl allows her to enter the facility. The human speaks of others out there and robots with deadly intent. This is different from what the robot mother attempts to emphasize - that humans are the untrustworthy ones. Ultimately its found that the woman is lying about her motives and intents and the daughter is prepared for a world without the robot - all of this being the robots design. The robot is shown to be capable of cruelty - by torturing the woman to extract information of others - for the supposed intent of preserving her project of a world with perfect children. In the end, the robot leaves the daughter with a new brother and she takes the body of another robot and visits the woman in the trailer and locks herself in with her. Maybe she kills her - its not clear. But overall, this movie shows an example of how robot could possibly attempt to direct the course of human existence. May need to read more to understand what the general message entails.

Movie about Jesuit and his companion traveling with the Huron Indians in an attempt to convert them from their Indian ways. The movie touches upon loneliness of those that choose the path of Christ. The Huron Indians demonstrate detestable practices throughout the film. Despite being a victim to so many indecencies of the Huron Indians, the Jesuit says that he loves them and baptizes them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Ego te baptizo in nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti. The movie demonstrates jnana as kalyanaguna. The behavior of the Huron Indians, though spiritual in nature, cannot be separated from the arishvargas of anger and lust. Violence is depicted in film to show that even for the Native Americans who live a life connected to nature, violence threatens a gruesome and tragic death. Ahimsa paramo dharma. Great quote by mother of Jesuit priest in which she prays for his well-being. Beautiful scene.

Futuristic world where the humans with the best genetics are selected to become space navigators. One boy is born from a "faith" marriage in which the genetics are imperfect. He nevertheless desires to achieve the highest rank in society as a space navigator. His dream brings him in contact with Jerome, someone with excellent genetics but doomed to failure due to a car accident. Vincent borrows the genetic material of Jerome to pass all the testing verifications. Vincent passes all the other physical and mental tests. Vincent, despite his noble goal, murders the director, the only one capable of exposing the truth. Vincent goes on to keep his fraud going until he finally boards the spaceship. Great movie. Motivational quote: I never saved anything for the swim back. Even in a perfectly engineered world, ambition still persists.
